A number of athletes aged between twelve and thirty took part in this year’s Karate National Championships that were organized by The Malta Karate Federation on Sunday, 21st November at National Sports School, Pembroke.

“It was a true pleasure to see our athletes compete once again after a two-year absence from such events. Recently, the Malta Karate Team was in two international competitions that were held in Montenegro and Poland in September and October respectively, attaining very good results. A total of twelve medals were won, namely two gold, one silver and nine bronze, once again showcasing resilience and persistence not only on the part of the athletes, but also on the technical and administrative side. Although these past two years were limited in activities related to sporting events, these were busy from an administrative aspect where MKF invested in upgrading the point scoring system by introducing a video review system. This system which was recently adopted in high level championships organized by the World Karate Federation, European Karate Federation and the Small States of Europe Karate Federation, all of which are Malta Karate Federation affiliations, was used for the first time in Malta. As a federation, we are committed to maintain a focused attention on the technical aspect so as to ensure our athletes are better prepared to successfully overcome future challenges.

Mr Kenneth Abela, MKF President concluded by thanking Sport Malta and MOC for their ongoing support.

Kampjonati Nazzjonali tal-Karate 2021

Numru ta’atleti b’etajiet bejn it-tnax u t-tletin sena’ ħadu sehem fil-Kampjonati Nazzjonali tal-Karate 2021 li ġew organizzati mill-Malta Karate Federation, l-Ħadd 21 ta’ Novembru ġewwa l-Iskola Nazzjonali tal-Isport, Pembroke.

“Wara waqfa ta’ sentejn minn kompetizzjonijiet lokali, kien ta pjaċir kbir li naraw lill-atleti tagħna jerġaw jikkompetu lokalment. Fuq sfond internazzjonali, riċentament it-Tim Malta kien preżenti kif ukoll kiseb riżultai sodisfaċenti ħafna ġewwa Montenegro kif ukoll ġewwa il-Polonja, fejn intrebħu total ta’ tnax il-midalja fosthom tnejn tad-deheb, waħda tal-fidda u disa’ tal-bronż. Għal darb’oħra turija ta’ persistenza u reżiljenza għall-Malta Karate Federation, kemm mil-lat atletiku kif ukoll mil-lat tekniku u amministrattiv. F’dawn is-sentejn li għaddew, fejn l’attivita sportiva kienet waħda limitata mil-lat ta’kompetizzjonijiet, kienet wħada attiva mil-lat amministrattiv, fejn saru żviluppi u investimenti fil-mod ta’ kif wiehed jista jtejjeb u japgrejdja is-sistema tal-punti, fejn b’teknoloġija ir-riżultati jiġu verifikati permezz ta ‘video review system’. Din is-sistema, fejn narawha fil-kompetizzjonijiet tal-għola livelli li jiġu organizzati kemm mill-World Karate Federation, European Karate Federation u Small States of Europe Karate Federation, li magħhom hijaq affiljata l-Malta Karate Federation, ġiet implimentata ghall’ewwel darba f’pajjizna. Bħala federazzjoni ahna lesti illi inkomplu niffukaw fuq il-lat tekniku biex b’hekk nassiguraw li l-atleti tagħna jkunu preparati tajjeb biex jilqaw sfidi ġodda.

Il-president tal-Federazzjoni is-sur Kenneth Abela kkonkluda billi rringrazzja lil Sport Malta u l-KOM tas-sapport kontinwu tagħhom.
