Success for Malta Team in the 7th edition of the Small States of Europe Karate Championships

25 athletes from Malta Karate Federation aged between 12 and 20 took part in the 7th edition of The Small States of Europe Karate Championships held between 24th September and 26th September 2021. 

The Malta Karate team was accompanied by MKF Technical Director Jesmond Schembri as HOD, National Coaching Team Michelle Vella, Josef Antonelli and Joseph Mizzi.

A total of 320 competitors from 6 countries took part in these championships.  The Malta Team competed in both Kata (forms) and Kumite (sparring) winning a total of 11 medals including 2 gold, 1 silver and 8 bronze, once again marking resounding success. 

MKF President Kenneth Abela and MKF Technical Director Jesmond Schembri were re-elected to form part of Small States of Europe Karate Federation committee as treasurer and technical board member respectively.  Their experience and competence in the field of karate is both appreciated and acknowledged. 

‘The challenges surrounding this year’s competition were considerable and it is an honor to form part of such a dedicated team where coaches, athletes and parents come together to deliver a respectful performance for Malta.  Well done to all involved.  We would like to thank SportMalta and Maltese Olympic Committee for their constant support’.  These were the comments of MKF Technical Director Jesmond Schembri.

Suċċess għat-Tim Malti fil-Kampjonati tal-Karate tal-Istati ż-Żgħar tal-Ewropa

25 atleta mill-Federazzjoni Maltija tal-Karate bl-etajiet ta’ bejn tnax u għoxrin sena, ħadu sehem fis-seba’  edizzjoni tal-Kampjonati tal-Karate tal-Istati ż-Żghar tal-Ewropa, li saru bejn l-24 u l-26 ta’ Settembru 2021. 

It-Tim ta’ Malta kien akkompanjat mid-Direttur Tekniku Jesmond Schembri bħala HOD kif ukoll mit-tim tal-Kowċis Nazzjonali Michelle Vella, Josef Antonelli u Joseph Mizzi. 

320 kompetitur minn 6 pajjiżi ħadu sehem f’dawn il-kampjonati.   L-atleti ipparteċipaw fil-Kata (forom) kif ukoll fil-Kumite (ġlied), fejn inkisbu 11 il-midalja fosthom 2 tad-deheb, 1 tal-fidda u 8 tal-bronż, għal darb’oħra turija ta’ konsistenza fost l’għola livelli. 

Il- President tal-MKF Kenneth Abela, kif ukoll id-Direttur Tekniku Jesmond Schembri reġaw ġew eletti fil-kumitat tal-Federazzjoni tal-Karate tal-Istati ż-Żgħar tal-Ewropa, bħala teżorier u membru tal-bord tekniku rispettivament.  L-esperjenza u l-kompetenza tagħhom fix-xena tal-karate hija apprezzata minn bosta kollaboraturi. 

‘L-isfidi marbuta ma dawn il-kampjonati kienu konsiderevoli, għaldaqstant huwa tassew unur għalija li nifforma parti minn tim eċċellenti ta’ kowċis, atleti, kif ukoll ġenituri fejn ingħaqdu flimkien biex b’hekk inkiseb dan ir-riżultat li jgħati ġieħ lil pajjiżna.  Prosit tassew.  Fl-aħħar net, nixtiequ nirringrazzjaw lil Sportmalta, kif ukoll lill-MOC għas-support kontinwu tagħhom’.  Dan kien il-kumment tad-Direttur Tekniku Jesmond Schembri.
